Is bounded by the Cours Saleya on one side and the Albert 1st Gardens on the other. Take a wander through the lively mass of winding lanes lined with little boutiques, patisseries, restaurants, snack bars, touristy knickknacks and Art shops.

Soak up the atmosphere, stop for a coffee or sample the traditional Nicois dishes at sidewalk cafes. The air is perfumed with the smell of provencal lavender and scented soaps. Massed ceramic cicadas pump out their distinctive mating call. Olive oil in traditional yellow and green pouring bottles. Postcards, posters, fridge magnets, souvenirs of Nice and the Riviera.

As evening falls, the Bay des Anges sparks into life. There is something for everyone, from gourmet restaurants to intimate bistros; from the opera house to bustling casinos, lively cellar bars and sophisticated night clubs. Why not enjoy a wonderful meal before you dance the night away in one of Nice's many discos. You canhave a night cap at any number of live music cafe/bars? Or visit the moroccan tea shop and choose from a menu of exotic teas whilst you lounge on brightly coloured cushions. And for those that can stand the pace - there are shops that stay open round the clock!

Most importantly, unlike some urban centres, Vieux Nice by day or night is entirely safe. You can wander out at night, relaxed and secure.
