Further Afield
It is easy to explore further a field. You can visit other places even without a car. Access to public transport is close by. Buses and taxis stop at the port, and the main coach and train stations are just a short walk from us. (direction place Garibaldi).
You can travel by train to any of the many smaller coves and beaches dotted along the coast. All have their particular ambiance. Beaulieu is especially worth a visit. Cannes, home of the Cannes Film Festival and the Principality of Monaco with its Grand Palais and world famous Casino are easy to get to (just 20- 30minutes train ride away) Go further and you could have lunch in Italy in an hour.
A pleasant way to see the coast around Nice is to take a boat trip from the Port. The boat takes an hour round trip. It travels past Cap de Nice and on round to Ville Franche harbour, it passes Cap Ferrat, then back round along the past the Promenade des Anglais and into the port again. The commentary is in French and English and the trip costs 12 euros for adults 7 euros for children. Departures from March to June - Every day except Monday and June to October Every day at 11am and 3pm.
Ferries leave the port several times a day for Corsica, Sardinia, St Tropez or the 'Iles de Lerins' (two islands just off Cannes) and fares are reasonable.
Rent a car and you could take a drive in the hills above Nice to visit the little villages and appreciate wonderful coast line views.
For an excellent day-trip, head south to Cannes, or north to Monaco or visit fashionable Antibes with its Picasso museum or visit Grasse, the fragrant capital of perfume.
